Introduce yourself in few lines.
After a legal assistant job in a law firm, I joined the insurance sector in 2014, as an Executive Assistant and Litigation before joining the SAAR Insurance Group in 2016 where I served successively in the positions of Sales Team Manager, then Claims and Litigation Manager.
In 2018, I had the opportunity to benefit from a 6-month training at the Business Academy PKFokam Institute of excellence in Yaoundé, in the "Insurance" module. I am currently writing my Master's thesis in Corporate Law in addition to a law degree I obtained in 2011.
My free time is mostly spent in singing class sessions in my church choir, playing sports and also farming in the family farm located more than 60 km from the capital.
How did you join OLEA ?
I discovered OLEA in 2017 when the company was freshly established in the Republic of Guinea. It is only in August 2019 that I answered the call of the Managing Director at the time, to join the team as a Claims Manager before being entrusted since December 2022, the exclusive management of some Corporate Key Accounts.
During my integration in OLEA Guinea, I was impressed by the sense of human support in the management and follow-up of claims, a key moment where empathy must be present. I was able to see that the fair treatment of claims, a central service of any insurance coverage, allows us to establish a relationship of trust, to create a positive customer experience and thus to retain our customers.
What professional encounter impacted you the most?
The encounter, or at least the professional experience that impacted me the most was the one spent as a teacher in an early childhood school. Being around children for 8 months changed my outlook and my ability to manage my emotions. Spending time with children between the ages of 5 and 8 taught me patience, an extremely important and fundamental value in our profession.
This allowed me today to be a good listener and to avoid giving in to my impulses when faced with the different pressures I am regularly confronted with in my daily tasks with our partners.
Indeed, I play an intermediary role between our clients and the insurers. It takes a lot of patience to provide advice, guidance and compensation solutions that work for everyone.
What is your motto in life?
My motto is based on a quote from Nelson Mandela: " I never lose. I either win or I learn". I use life's experiences to learn from them and move forward rather than giving up and not moving forward. This state of mind allows me to overcome my limits when facing difficulties at work and in my personal life, without being held back by the possibility of failure or discouragement.
I still remember the challenge of my professional transition from a totally legal field to the insurance one, and especially the difficulties I had to overcome as a sales manager, in a country where the insurance penetration rate was 0.34% in 2019.
